The Girl Who Danced in Rain

🌧️ Getting Back into My Visual Arts Bag: The Girl Dancing in the Rain

Lately, I’ve been reminding myself what it feels like to just sketch — no pressure, no perfection, just pure expression. Somewhere between client projects, paint parties, and everyday life, I realized I hadn’t given myself the space to simply draw for me. Sketching has always been my reset button, my way of connecting with the part of myself that fell in love with art long before it became a business.

So this week, I decided to slow down and get back into the rhythm of learning to enjoy sketching again. No elaborate setups, no digital edits — just a pencil, a sketchbook, and my thoughts.

✏️ The Process

I started with something that felt peaceful: “The Girl Dancing in the Rain.”She came to life quickly — almost like she’d been waiting for me to show up. I didn’t overthink her pose or her expression. I just let the movement of the pencil follow the feeling of freedom and release that rain always brings. There’s something about drawing rain that feels cleansing — like every drop is a reminder to let go of the need for control and just flow.

The sketch isn’t perfect (and that’s the beauty of it). It reminded me that art doesn’t have to be polished to be powerful. Sometimes, it just needs to be real.

💭 The Reminder

Getting back into my sketching groove has reminded me that creativity doesn’t disappear — it just waits for you to come back home. Whether I’m painting on denim, designing for a client, or sketching in silence, it all comes from the same place: curiosity, emotion, and that deep love for creating something from nothing.

So here’s to dancing in the rain, both on paper and in life. Here’s to rediscovering joy in the process.
